2013 in Revue

13/01/2014

Hi to all Members & Registered Teachers,

Here we are at the end of another great year! On behalf of the TDF Board of Directors & Examiners we would like to thank you all for your support throughout 2013 & congratulations to all for the hard work & effort you put into your students preparation for their examinations & Awards Day. I personally would like to thank the TDF Board of Directors & Examiners for their amazing support throughout this year.

As you know, in 2012, TDF partly separated from the FATD Ballroom faculty (BDF) by having our own bank account. This enabled TDF to grow in many ways as we no longer needed to financially support BDF. We were thrilled to be able to offer Scholarships to the value of $12,500 at the Awards Days & continue with the growth of the Website. Throughout 2013 it became increasingly difficult to work amicably & productively with the BDF Directors. TDF’s financial security was again at risk. Your directors decided the only way forward for TDF was to leave the umbrella of FATD & form our own Company.

So it is with great excitement we give you the news that of 1st January 2014 we will now be known as

Australasian Dance Association Ltd.

We will be totally independent (a public company limited by guarantee) & able to fulfil our dreams for the association, members & students. Through negotiations we have managed to retain all syllabi & anything pertaining to this. All FATD qualifications transfer over without any changes. Basically it is a name change. We are currently working on the new logo & branding. This will carry across all the syllabi, medals, certificates & the website.

Changes - Email address - Website address - Banking details - these have not been finalised at printing so will be sent asap to everyone.

PO Box mailing address & phone/fax numbers will remain unchanged.

2013 in Revue will be emailed & posted to ensure everyone receives a copy. Please ensure you notify the office of a change in your postal & email address. As information is sent in group emails please check your spam or junk mail for any missing notifications from the office.

A touch of pink

25/09/2013

On Friday 21st February 2014, and in the lead up to this date, I hold the ambitious goal to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, who aim to ensure all families in Australia no matter where they live or their financial situation have access to the optimal care and support that only breast care nurses can provide. In doing so, I am hosting the inaugural; “A Touch of Pink” Benefit Ball at Venus Reception Centre, Kogarah. Guests from across Sydney will join me in raising awareness and funds for this remarkable foundation.

As 1 in 3 women suffer from this disease and with a mortality rate of 15.3% every person, every day has been touched with a grandmother, mother, daughter or friend with Breast Cancer. Through your goodwill and generosity we hope to touch these women's lives with a positive outcome.

Please consider making a donation to our event showing support for this renowned foundation. Whether this be in the form of a gift certificate, merchandise or simply a monetary donation, it will all benefit the McGrath Foundation.

Through your time, talent, influence and donations I hope we may work together to create a brighter future for women battling breast cancer, and also support their families.

Please note any forms of donation to this worthy cause and in support of my event are fully tax deductible.

For all “A Touch of Pink” benefit ball tickets, donations, support and further information, please contact me via phone or email on the details below.

I am honoured to say the McGrath Foundation have given their full support of this event. Please visit their site here.

Thank you for your support, sincerely, Tamara Gordon

2012 in revue

20/12/2012

Hi to all Members and Registered Teachers,

Can you believe we are at the end of another great year! On behalf of the Board of Directors and Examiners we would like to thank you all for your support throughout 2012 and congratulations to all for the hard work and effort you put into your students preparation for their examinations. I personally would like to thank the TDF Board of Directors and Examiners for their amazing support throughout a rather trying and difficult year.

This year the Theatre Dance Faculty (TDF) became a separate identity to the Ballroom Faculty. There have been some major issues to overcome and henceforth some delays in the office. Thank you all for your patience and understanding and I sincerely hope 2013 will be most efficient and productive. The other change some will have noticed is the certificates. They will now be one style and colour for Grades and slightly different for Stars. This will be gradual over the next year or two. Majors and diploma certificates will not change at this time.

A big welcome to all our new Members in Australia and Malaysia/Thailand. Please don't hesitate to contact TDF Office if you have any queries. We are always happy to help in any way.

Bundaberg and Brisbane Awards ran very smoothly again this year. A huge thank you to all the teachers that supported in the preparation and their voluntary work during the event. These events would not run without our Volunteers!
